In its first public response to being closed on Monday, the commission issued a statement bemoaning a lack of cooperation by the UCI and confirmed its second public hearing, scheduled for Thursday, would not now take place. “Neither the UCI nor interested stakeholders have provided sufficient cooperation to enable the commission to do its job,” the statement said. “This failure to cooperate makes our task impossible. Therefore, the proposed hearing on 31 January 2013 will not take place....

Disturbances marred Marseille’s 2-1 win at San Mames on Thursday. Before the match, a stadium security guard suffered a neck wound caused by a sharp object, though his injuries were not serious. Once inside the stadium, Marseille supporters lit flares, some of which were dropped from their second-tier location onto the Athletic fans beneath, with charges ultimately brought against the club for setting off and throwing fireworks, as well as for general crowd disturbances....

In case you didn’t know… Having won the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 223 by defeating Al Iaquinta, standout Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov will make his first UFC Lightweight Title defense tomorrow night at the T-Mobile Arena against the returning Conor McGregor. McGregor, who was the last person to officially hold the UFC 155-pound championship, will mark his return to the Octagon for the first time in two years since his championship winning bout over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205....

In case you didn’t know… At UFC 229, Khabib Nurmagomedov marked his first successful Lightweight Championship defense after winning the title at UFC 223 by beating Al Iaquinta, against former division champion Conor McGregor, who made his return to Octagon competition for the first time in almost two and a half years. Khabib, who pretty much dominated the fight from the get-go, had control of McGregor on the ground and didn’t allow the Irishman to create any particular opening, as The Eagle eventually won via submission when McGregor tapped out in the fourth round of the fight....

In case you didn’t know… Nik Lentz signed with the UFC in 2009 and made his debut at UFC 103, replacing an injuring Dan Lauzon and pulled off a major upset win over Rafaello Oliveira via split decision in his Octagon debut. In his second UFC fight, with Lentz once again being the underdog, faced Thiago Tavarez, with the fight ending in a majority draw. Throughout his next few bouts in the Octagon, Lentz scored huge wins over the likes of Tyson Griffin, Eiji Mitsuoka, and very recently scored a hard-fought win over Will Brooks at UFC Fight Night 121....

Launching Thursday, September 29th, Ubisoft games will be up to 80% off, with the best discounts going to games and DLC some players will want to scoop up immediately. Gamers that have been waiting for a chance to get their hands on Farcry 6 for instance, will want to jump at the 60% off tag in the Ubisoft store....

All of that aside, one element of the comment stands out on how Ubisoft imagines NFT incorporation into games could go—a secondary marketplace. Now, microtransactions are nothing new, and marketplaces and in-game shops are any mainstay in a live-service game, but the idea here is that one player could sell an item that they were done with (or items, after completing a game) to each other. In some way, like a third-party charge, it’s assumed Ubisoft will also line its pockets with this transaction....

Starting with Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft is pushing forward with a beta program for “Ubisoft Quartz,” a platform designed to integrate NFTs into the publisher’s games. “Digits,” the NFTs themselves that players will be able to claim and trade, are all unique blockchain-based items in-game that each come with unique serial numbers, just like more conventional examples of NFTs like art pieces. Problem is, even beyond the inherent negative impact on the environment from NFTs and blockchain, Ubisoft’s implementation of NFTs is unsustainable....
