UEFA says its disciplinary panel will study an “illicit” anti-UEFA banner displayed at Wednesday’s game in Munich, and a “field invasion” by fans after Madrid’s 2-1 win in the first leg of the semifinals. The case will be judged on May 31, five days after the final. Bayern fans have repeatedly used Champions League games in recent seasons to display banners critical of UEFA, financial issues in football, and high ticket prices charged by other clubs....

Sweden were forced into extra time before Robin Quaison’s effort sealed a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in Solna, with a Path B final now set up against Poland on March 29. Portugal survived a late scare to win 3-1 at home to Turkey, but the big story was the historic late 1-0 victory for North Macedonia against Roberto Mancini’s Italy in Palermo....

FIFA’s rotation policy should see the competition return to the continent in that year, despite suggestions that China could bid for the competition following the announcement that Vivo had become a partner of the world game’s governing body – the third Chinese company in recent times to do so. Ceferin, however, has said the right to host the competition cannot be bought. “It’s simply time for us [Europe] to host the World Cup in 2030,” he told the BBC....

Coach Kavanagh and George Lockhart (McGregor’s Diet Coach) had joined Joe Rogan for the popular JRE MMA Show after UFC 229. In case you didn’t know… John Kavanagh is the founder and head coach of Irish MMA team Straight Blast Gym Ireland and the head coach of Conor McGregor at SBG Ireland. Kavanagh is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and former professional mixed martial artist. He was very instrumental in making Conor a well-rounded and successful combatant....

The likely reason for this is the fact that tickets sold out so quickly based on those top two fights that the promotion simply didn’t need to stack the rest of the card, but still, it’s a trend which hopefully won’t continue. Realistically, the two ESPN+ Fight Nights we’ve had thus far in 2019 were stronger cards on paper. Still, there’s obviously a couple of interesting fights going on here....

UFC president Dana White told ESPN on Wednesday that light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will defend his title for the second time this year when he fights Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC 239 on July 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The co-main event will feature dual-division champion Amanda Nunes putting her women’s bantamweight title on the line against former titleholder Holly Holm. ESPN also reported, and Sporting News has confirmed, that contracts for both fights have been verbally agreed to but not yet signed....

The reigning middleweight champion, Adesanya (19-0, 14 KOs) will put the title and his undefeated record on the line as he faces an undefeated challenger in Costa (13-0, 11 KOs).This battle between unbeatens has been a long time coming. With 25 knockouts between the two fighters, there’s a good chance fans will get to see some big hits. Adesanya may be the current champion, but Costa isn’t your typical underdog; 12 of his 13 victories have come via stoppage with nine of those ending in the first round....

Real Madrid lost the second leg 1-4 in their own backyard after a breathtaking performance from a young Ajax side. The Dutch side was superior in every aspect and they literally bossed Madrid at their hallowed Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Dušan Tadić, the Serbian froward starred brilliantly for Ajax as he scored a stunner and provided two assists. On the other hand, PSG gave up a 2-0 lead from the first leg at Old Trafford, to lose 1-3 at the Parc des Princes which saw them out of the round of 16 for the third consecutive time....

UCLA and adidas announced on Friday that the Bruins will be wearing a tribute to the 1965 National Championship team for their January 31 game against Colorado. The jerseys feature throwback letters, numbering and logos used in the uniforms worn by John Wooden’s 1964-65 UCLA squad.
